Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!
Max was looking forward to a playdate with his best friend from school, but said friend is sick today and had to cancel. In the midst of Max's stoic grief over this, we somehow got on the topic of his long-lost "V Train Bear" from the transit museum, which was dropped from the stroller soon after purchase and disappeared.
Max: Does someone have V Bear?Posted by rjt at November 23, 2007 11:32 AMMommy: Yes. Someone gave it a good home.
Max: I want to kick them.
Mommy: Well...
Max: I want to kick them all the way to Uganda.
Mommy: ...
Max: To Northern Uganda.
any chance he saw that Fall out Boy video about the boys being kidnapped and forced to serve in the Ugandan army? fairly intense vid.
Posted by: perj at November 30, 2007 11:14 AMActually, you're right - that's exactly where he must have gotten it. He has definitely seen that video (the murder-by-machete was too far in the background and obliquely rendered for him to catch on to what was going on, thank god). Which meant that we had to figure out how to explain Ugandan child soldiers to our four-year-old, having already tackled 9/11 and Darfur.
Posted by: rjt at November 30, 2007 02:09 PMjust tell him what George told his lovely daughters. "They're not Americans so we don't care, and even if they were Americans, we're not convinced."
