The Evolution (?) of Humor

filed under: Dadditudes

I have already chronicled Max's unique take on knock-knock jokes. Tonight he showed how far he has come:

Max: Knock knock.

Me: Who's there?

Max: Glass.

Me: Glass who?

Max: Glass from Manhattan.

Me: ...

Max: That's a knock-knock joke.

Well, by some definitions, I guess...

I took this advice from Dr. Phil, thought I'd pass it along.
You: Knock knock
Max: Who's there?
You: Disappointed dad.
Max: Disappointed dad who?
You: Disappointed dad who thought you were going to be smart (sigh)...

THAT'S how you develop a sense of humor in a kid!

Do you and Lisa ever drink Manhattans? If so, Max's play on words is...I think...quite clever. It seems to me he found it funny that people drink a drink they've named a "Manhattan"...which he knows is also a big city near him. So, he figured he'd name the glass "Glass"...who is from Manhattan and put him in a knock-knock joke. Clever boy!

Congratulations, Tolans, on the new baby, Voo!
