Max shared with us some obscure geographical knowledge while flipping through the pieces of his United States map puzzle:
Augusta, Maine is where challah bread comes from. They make the best challah bread in Augusta.Posted by rjt at September 16, 2007 04:17 PMDandelions are from Honduras and Alabama. The yellow ones are from Honduras, and the white ones are from Alabama.
New Mexico has lots of quail and buffalo. The beach is great in Quailland, New Mexico.
Idaho is known for its spinach.
They have great ice cream in Arizona.
They have great apples in Washington and great peaches in South Carolina.
I like peaches.
Some of these facts are obscure and no doubt known only to those with deeply inquiring minds--I'm particularly entranced, having been to Augusta, Maine, to know that the secret origins of challa bread were there somewhere all unbeknownst to me. Those downeasters are some reticent folk!
Some of these facts, however, are pretty much in the public domain. Like Washington and apples and South Carolina and peaches, of course. As much as Max likes peaches, it's a shame he doesn't actually eat them! We like peaches, too, but the sad thing is that they are over for the year. We and Max will miss them till next summer.
Posted by: procrastimom at September 17, 2007 12:38 PMSo Procrastimom just accidentally double-posted the above, and then added a comment indicating that she didn't know how to delete the double-posting. I went in and used my godlike Procrastinet powers to delete the double, but wanted to note:
Congrats to Procrastimom on the site's 900th comment!
Of course, I've now deleted that comment and stolen the benchmark 900th for myself, because that's how I roll. But congrats anyway.
Only 100 coments until 1,000! Who will be lucky commenter?!
Posted by: rjt at September 17, 2007 06:52 PMIs there a prize?
