First point of business: I have discovered a brilliant font of online time-wasting, called Addicting Games. It's a page of - who'd have thought it - games. Free online java and flash games. Which are, you know, addicting. If you're into that kind of thing. Which I am.
Second: I found this page through a post on MarkTAW.com, who rightly point out that many of these games seem to be Atari 2600 emulators. In a flash of nostalgia, I dove into Duck Hunt and played for several minutes in "One Duck" mode. Once that got boring, I checked the other modes.
It includes a mode called "Dogs." Which looks like this:

As you can see, the Duck Hunt dog has been transmogrified into a fleet of tail-rotored attack helicopterdogs, which you mow down with a gatling gun and unlimited ammo, whereupon the dogs explode in burst of aerial carnage. It's the most random, pointlessly brutal thing I've seen in a long time. For some reason, it's also almost totally hypnotic.
I'm pleased to welcome the grammatically questionable but procrastinetorially gifted Addicting Games to the blogroll, under - where else - "Procrastination Aids." Enjoy.
