Procrastinet has several missions, all centered around a common theme: many people find themselves whiling away several hours a week on the web. Procrastinet is here to help kill some of that time.
There are serious heavy-duty things to ponder (mostly filed under "Stuff to worry about" and "Stuff to be pissed off about" and linked under "The Political Commentariat"). Most of this ends up looking like traditional political blogging - links to and sometimes commentary on other articles.
There are totally silly and frivolous things to read and/or play with (mostly filed under "Stuff to laugh at" and linked under "Procrastination Aids").
Last but not least, it's also my personal site. So it includes diary-type entries (mostly under "Idle Chatter"), postings on things I like talking about (see "Stuff you never, ever needed to know about") and some family pictures (under, predictably, "Pictures").
A blog can often feel like shouting into a vacuum, so if you have a reaction (good bad or indifferent) to what you see, please leave a comment. It's always nice to know someone's looking. Feel free to link to anything you like here, and please tell friends.
Lastly, if you like the site and want to help out in a painless way, please consider doing your Amazon shopping through us - just click on the "Amazon" link on the right and then shop as you usually would. We'll get a teeny percentage and it will help defray operating expenses.
Thanks for looking!

UPDATE: As Procrastinet has grown, I've added a few new categories - but the most important are "Procrastinet Originals" and "Despatches," featuring work that can be found only on Procrastinet. Enjoy!
Posted by rjt at April 26, 2004 04:06 PMthankyou for the basement saga- it does help to see an ordinary person with the attitude of i can do it.
now you have truly inspired me to begin my own 102 year old leaky stone wall basement repairs..
and i was pleasantly surprised to see the not so ordinary other stuff on your site-but what is it all about again?
Jules - glad to help motivate you. Some day I'll get around to posting the rest of the basement saga, which is many months overdue - it's all done now, and has so far been dry through several bad storms and a very wet winter. Take extra time with the grinding-away-loose-stuff part - a couple places that I didn't get rid of all the efflorescence (give it a muriatic acid bath just to make sure) it puffed up through the Quikwall and I had to re-do it.
